I
invested in oil stocks when Bush was first elected, and have maintained a significant
position in oil since then. So I can't really complain as much as most about
high gas prices, though I have to admit I never saw where it was especially
shrewd to invest in oil stocks when an oil man bent on war got into the White
House.
Look, everybody. If you want a president who's friendly with the Saudis and
wages aggressive war across the Middle East, just get used to very expensive
gasoline. Assuming you can get it. It's that simple.
addendum:
9/10/06- I see gas prices are way down. Just in time for the election.
There's an old Arab saying. Something about a camel and a goat.
addendum2:
12/9/06- Anybody besides me notice gas prices creeping back up since the election?
On the plus side, my Tesoro Petroleum stock is up substantially. The Conoco stock not quite as much.
addendum3:
6/23/07- This just in-
U.S.
House votes to ban aid to Saudi Arabia. It's a fair question why our money is being given to
the obscenely wealthy, but not to worry, because ....
"In the past three years, Congress has passed bills to
stop the relatively small amount of U.S. aid to Saudi Arabia, only to see the
Bush administration circumvent the prohibitions."
So .... yeah.
